Chapter 2 - The Morning After and the PR MassacreThe next morning, the Manhattan skyline was obscured by a thick, unforgiving gray fog, perfectly mirroring the catastrophic storm brewing inside Weston Holdings.

Andrew awoke on the leather sofa in his office, his tuxedo shirt wrinkled, his mouth tasting of stale scotch and sheer panic. He had spent the entire night calling my phone, leaving increasingly unhinged voicemails that ranged from furious, screaming threats to pathetic, sobbing apologies. I hadn't listened to a single one. My phone was sitting at the bottom of a trash can at Teterboro Airport.
At exactly 7:00 AM, Andrew’s corporate phone began vibrating relentlessly. It was his Chief Public Relations Officer, Marcus.
"Have you seen Page Six?" Marcus shouted the second Andrew answered the call, bypassing any professional pleasantries.
"I don't care about the tabloids, Marcus," Andrew snapped, rubbing his bloodshot eyes. "I have a crisis at home. Claire left me."
"I know she left you, you idiot!" Marcus roared, his voice echoing through the speaker. "The whole damn world knows! Look at the television!"
Andrew scrambled for the remote, turning on the massive flat-screen mounted on his office wall. The morning financial news networks were not talking about the charity gala's philanthropic success. They were displaying a split-screen graphic. On the left was the high-definition, humiliating photograph of Andrew kissing Lila Summers. On the right was a breaking news ticker: WESTON HOLDINGS CEO FACES BRUTAL DIVORCE; SHARES PLUMMET 9% IN PRE-MARKET TRADING AMIDST FORENSIC AUDIT RUMORS.
"What did you do?!" Andrew screamed at the television.
"I didn't do anything!" Marcus yelled back. "Claire Morgan's firm leaked the filing to the financial press at 6:00 AM. They didn't just leak the divorce; they leaked the fact that a judge has approved a forensic audit of your executive compensation packages. The board of directors is absolutely losing their minds. They are calling an emergency meeting for noon. You need to get here now."
Before Andrew could even process the magnitude of the corporate disaster, the private elevator chimed, signaling an arrival at the penthouse.
The doors slid open, and Lila Summers stepped out. She was wearing designer sunglasses, a cashmere trench coat, and carrying a tray of expensive artisanal coffees. She looked like a woman who believed she had just officially won the grand prize.
"Good morning, baby," Lila cooed, stepping into the foyer and taking off her sunglasses. "The paparazzi are swarming the lobby downstairs. I told the doorman I was moving some of my things in today. Since Claire threw her little tantrum and left, I figured we could finally—"
"Get out," Andrew snarled, his voice vibrating with a terrifying, venomous rage.
Lila froze, the smile instantly vanishing from her perfectly contoured face. "Excuse me? Andrew, what is wrong with you? We won. She's gone."
"She didn't throw a tantrum, you stupid, arrogant child!" Andrew roared, hurling his whiskey glass across the room. It shattered violently against the marble wall, sending shards of crystal exploding across the floor. Lila shrieked, dropping the coffees and taking a terrified step backward.
"She filed for a forensic audit!" Andrew screamed, storming toward her, his face twisted in absolute panic. "She locked down my assets! The board is threatening to suspend me! You think this is a victory? She just dropped a nuclear bomb on my entire life, and you want to talk about moving your clothes into my closet?!"
Lila stared at him, her eyes wide with fear. The charming, effortless billionaire she thought she had seduced was gone. In his place was a cornered, desperate animal watching his kingdom burn to the ground.

"Get out of my house," Andrew whispered, his voice trembling with barely contained violence. "And don't ever contact me again."
Lila turned and fled into the elevator, hammering the lobby button as tears ruined her makeup. Andrew stood alone in the foyer, surrounded by spilled coffee and broken glass. He had sacrificed his marriage, his reputation, and his unborn child for a fleeting moment of public ego. And now, the bill had finally come due.
