Chapter 8 - The Billionaire's TrapExecuting a digital heist against a multi-billionaire required absolute, flawless precision. We were operating in the microscopic window before Arthur realized we weren't just defending our servers—we were actively breaking into his.

The clock was ticking. It was 3:00 AM.

"Arthur’s primary wealth is shielded behind five layers of biometric security," Julian explained, the blue light of the monitors reflecting in his intense, focused eyes. "The ledger gave us the account numbers, but to initiate a total asset transfer, we need Arthur’s voice authorization. It’s a proprietary AI voice-lock."

"He called me this morning," I realized, a brilliant spark of adrenaline igniting in my chest. "He left a voicemail before Victoria walked in, threatening me. Can you use that audio file to clone his voice?"

Julian’s lips curved into a dangerous, thrilling smirk. "I have military-grade voice synthesis software. Give me ten minutes."

While Julian worked to synthesize Arthur’s voice, I sat down with Victoria. She was shaking, terrified of the sheer magnitude of what we were doing.

"If this fails, Emily, he will kill us," Victoria sobbed, clutching her cold cup of tea.

"It won't fail," I said, gripping her hands firmly. "For years, men like Arthur and Grant have used money as a weapon to keep us silent, compliant, and terrified. Tonight, we take the weapon away. You are walking out of this building a free, fiercely independent woman. Do you understand me?"

Victoria looked into my eyes, drawing on the absolute, uncompromising strength I projected. Slowly, she nodded, her tears stopping. "Do it."

"The voice clone is ready," Julian called out. "I am routing the connection through a dozen international proxies to mask our location. Bypassing the Swiss bank firewalls... now."

The speaker in the server room crackled to life as the automated banking system answered. "Voice authorization required for mass asset liquidation. Please state your name and security passphrase."

Julian hit a button on his console. The synthesized, pitch-perfect voice of Arthur Sterling echoed through the room. "Arthur Sterling. Alpha-Tango-Niner-Eclipse."

There was an agonizing, three-second pause. My heart hammered against my ribs so hard it physically hurt.

"Authorization accepted," the automated voice chimed. "Please confirm the destination routing number for the transfer of four point two billion dollars."

I read Victoria’s newly established, heavily encrypted blind trust account numbers aloud to Julian. He typed them in with lightning speed, initiating the synthetic voice command to confirm.

"Transfer processing. Assets liquidated. Transfer complete. Current account balance: Zero."

The room erupted into cheers. Chloe hugged Victoria, who burst into tears of pure, unadulterated relief. We had done it. We had completely, legally gutted the monster.

But a cornered beast is the most dangerous kind of animal.

At 6:00 AM, the heavy glass doors of my corporate lobby shattered.

I rushed out of the server room, Julian stepping protectively in front of me. Standing in the center of the shattered glass, flanked by four massive, armed private security contractors, was Arthur Sterling.

He was breathing heavily, his bespoke suit rumpled, his face a terrifying mask of absolute, unhinged fury. He held a suppressed handgun by his side.

"You stole my money," Arthur roared, his voice echoing through the empty lobby. He raised the weapon, pointing it directly at my chest. "Transfer it back, Emily. Right now. Or I will kill everyone in this room."
