Chapter 4 - The Dinner

Roman lowered the umbrella.

He looked at her black silk dress.

"You're ready for dinner."

Evelyn narrowed her eyes.

"You think you can just scare away my date and take his place?"

"I didn't scare him," Roman corrected. "I relocated him."

"Same thing."

Roman stepped under the awning.

The rain surrounded them, cutting them off from the rest of Brooklyn.

"Evelyn."

Her name sounded different when he said it.

Not like a customer.

Like a man who had spent three weeks trying to figure out how to make her his.

"I am a dangerous man," Roman said quietly.

"I live a dangerous life."

"But I will never let anything in this world hurt you."
