Chapter 4: The Ultimatum

Clarissa let out a loud, mocking laugh.

"Oh, what a touching little soap opera!" she sneered, rolling her eyes. "Well, that's all in the past. Tony, my family is waiting. We have a multi-million dollar merger depending on this marriage. Leave the maid and the kid in the lobby, and let's finish the ceremony."

She held out her hand, expecting Tony to obey. Expecting the money and the status to win, just like they always did in her world.

Tony looked at Clarissa's outstretched hand. He looked at the three hundred guests who had watched Clarissa violently shove his five-year-old son just moments ago.

He reached into his tuxedo pocket. He pulled out the massive, five-carat diamond wedding ring.

"You're right, Clarissa," Tony said calmly. "This marriage was about a merger. It was about status. And I just realized that your status is entirely worthless."

Tony dropped the diamond ring onto the marble floor. It bounced with a sharp, hollow ping that echoed through the silent ballroom.

"The wedding is canceled," Tony announced.

Clarissa’s arrogant smirk shattered into pure panic. "Tony! You can't do this! You are humiliating me!"

"You humiliated yourself," Tony replied coldly. "You showed everyone exactly who you are. And I will never let a monster like you anywhere near my family."
