Chapter 5: The Only Wealth That Matters

Tony didn't wait for Clarissa's hysterical screaming to subside.
He turned his back on the altar, the crystal chandeliers, and the hundreds of wealthy guests who cared more about appearances than human beings.
He walked over to Helen. With absolute pride, he offered his mother his arm.
Helen looked at it, hesitating. "Tony... my uniform is dirty. I'll ruin your suit."
"Mom," Tony smiled, his eyes shining with tears. "You are the most beautiful woman in this room. And I have never been more proud of anything in my life."
Helen burst into fresh tears, finally taking her son's arm. Tony reached down and picked up little Leo with his other arm, holding his son tightly against his chest.
Together, the three of them walked down the long, white marble aisle. They walked past the furious bride. They walked past the whispering elites. They walked out of the suffocating world of fake luxury and empty promises.
