Chapter 3: The Drop

"I think you’ve misunderstood the situation, Arabella," Elena said, her voice carrying with crystal clarity across the silent, breathless crowd. "Or whatever name you're using this week."

Arabella’s smug smile faltered for a fraction of a second. Julian frowned, a flicker of genuine confusion replacing his arrogant annoyance. Beatrice, standing practically on her tiptoes, paused her screaming, sensing the sudden, unnatural shift in the atmosphere. The power dynamic in the botanical gardens had just violently inverted.

From the pocket of her black trench coat, Elena withdrew a thick stack of glossy photographs. With a swift, dynamic flick of her wrist, she threw them directly onto the pristine white silk cloth draping the altar. They landed with a sharp smack right next to the crystal chalice and the gold wedding bands.

The photos spread out across the silk. They weren't love letters. They weren't evidence of Julian’s infidelity. They were mugshots. Multiple, high-resolution police booking photos of Arabella. Some showed her with blonde hair, some with brown, some taken in different countries, but all featuring the exact same striking face. Across the top of the most recent photo, stamped in bold red letters, were the words: INTERPOL WANTED - FELONY FRAUD & EXTORTION.

Simultaneously, as if orchestrated by a cinematic director, the peaceful afternoon was shattered by the ear-piercing wail of police sirens.

It wasn't just one car. The sound came from every direction, surrounding the massive estate. Suddenly, harsh, flashing red and blue police lights cut through the bright daylight, washing violently over the white roses, the crystal chandelier, and the pale faces of the wedding guests. The romantic, joyful lighting of the ceremony was instantly annihilated, replaced by the chaotic, tense strobe of a crime scene.

Elena stepped back, her dark silhouette illuminated by the aggressive flashing lights. She looked at Julian, whose face had gone completely slack, and then shifted her piercing gaze to the terrified bride.

"I didn't come for him," Elena declared, her voice ringing out like a judge handing down a sentence. She gestured toward Arabella, who was now bathed in alternating red and blue flashes. "I came to collect the two-million-dollar bounty on a wanted international fraudster."

The crowd erupted into absolute pandemonium. The gasps turned into screams. Guests leaped from their perfectly arranged white chairs. The red and blue lights reflected off Arabella’s heavy diamond necklace, turning the symbol of her supposed wealth into a glaring beacon of her crimes.

Elena crossed her arms over her trench coat, a picture of absolute, unshakeable composure amidst the chaos she had just unleashed. "Svetlana Romanov, alias Arabella, alias Chloe Davis. Wanted in four countries for defrauding wealthy men out of tens of millions of dollars. The feds are at the gates, 'Arabella'. The wedding is officially over."
