Chapter 1: The Slap and the Silence

The haute couture showroom was a cathedral of silk, lace, and ambition. Crystal chandeliers cascaded light over gowns that cost more than a family home, casting an aura of untouchable perfection. But in a heartbeat, the atmosphere turned toxic.
SLAP.
The sound was sharp, sickening, and echoed against the marble walls like a gunshot.
Isabella, the young bride-to-be, stumbled backward, her shoulder slamming into a rack of evening gowns. Her hand flew to her cheek, her skin already blossoming into a deep, stinging red. Her eyes were wide, brimming with a mix of physical pain and the crushing weight of public humiliation.
Standing over her was Beatrice, a woman whose entire presence was curated to scream "old money." She was drenched in silver and diamonds, her face a twisted mask of arrogant disdain.
"That dress is worth more than your worthless life!" Beatrice hissed, her voice vibrating with a polished, cruel hatred. "How dare a common nobody like you even touch it?!"
Behind her, two sidekicks—clones of Beatrice in designer labels—erupted into shrill, mocking laughter. They pointed at Isabella as if she were a piece of street theater, their eyes devoid of any human empathy.
Isabella lowered her head. A single, heavy tear slid down her stinging cheek, catching the light like a crystal bead before falling. She didn't fight back. She didn't scream. She stood in the center of the showroom, broken and silent, while the wealthy elite surrounding them watched, their gazes shifting from discomfort to bored apathy.

"You should know your place, little girl," Beatrice sneered, stepping closer, her voice dripping with venom. "Some of us are born to wear these gowns. Others… are only meant to clean the floors they walk on. Do us all a favor and leave before I have you thrown out."
The silence that followed was heavy, suffocating, and absolute. Beatrice smirked, basking in the glow of her own dominance. She had won. Or so she thought.
