Chapter 5: The Real Wealth

Six months later.

The grand ballroom of the luxury hotel where the wedding was supposed to happen had hosted dozens of other fake, status-obsessed events. Vanessa was a regular fixture in the tabloids, desperately trying to rebrand her image while her former elite friends quietly distanced themselves from her toxic reputation.

Julian didn't read the tabloids.

He was sitting in the small, warm kitchen of his mother’s suburban home. The smell of fresh coffee and cinnamon rolls filled the air—a stark contrast to the sterile, catered luxury he had almost trapped himself in.

Through the kitchen window, he could see the rosebushes his father had planted decades ago, blooming brilliantly in the afternoon sun.

Margaret set a fresh mug of coffee in front of him, smiling as she sat down across the small wooden table.

"You look tired, Julian," Margaret noted, though her eyes were filled with absolute pride.

"I've been working hard," Julian smiled, taking a sip of the dark roast. "The company is expanding. But I'm taking the weekend off."

"Oh?" Margaret raised an eyebrow. "Any special reason?"

Julian looked down at his coffee, a genuine, warm smile breaking across his face. "I have a date tonight. With someone who doesn't care what kind of suit I wear, or how much the dinner costs."

He looked at his mother. The simple navy dress. The worn hands. The absolute, unconditional love in her eyes.

Julian realized that the chaotic, painful afternoon at the wedding venue hadn't been a tragedy at all. It had been a rescue mission. Margaret hadn't just brought him roses from his father’s garden; she had brought him the truth.

He had walked away from a counterfeit kingdom, and in doing so, he had finally found his real life.
