Chapter 4 - The Annihilation

Sienna stared at the documents on the table.
She recognized her own handwriting on the draft of the wedding vows.
She recognized the 70/30 split contract.
She stopped breathing.
"You broke into my safe," Graham whispered, horrified.
"You broke into my life," I replied.
I turned to the Mercer trustees.
"Gentlemen," I said. "As the sole biological heir to the Mercer Maritime Trust, I am officially declining Whitlock Capital’s offer of asset management."
The lead trustee nodded grimly.
"Furthermore," I continued, turning to the SEC agents. "I believe you will find the emails in that stack very interesting. They detail how Whitlock Capital has been using shell companies to defraud investors, heavily orchestrated by the Director of Private Acquisitions."
I looked directly at Sienna.
Her face was the color of ash.
"Graham told me to do it!" Sienna shrieked, instantly turning on him. "It was his plan! He needed the Mercer money to cover the firm's losses!"
Graham lunged toward her.
"Shut your mouth!" he roared.
"You promised me thirty percent!" she screamed back.
They were tearing each other apart in front of federal agents, a room full of lawyers, and the father who had enabled the entire scheme.
It was a beautiful thing to watch.
My attorney handed Graham a single sheet of paper.
"What is this?" Graham choked out.
"An annulment," I said. "Based on extreme fraud."
Graham looked at me, his eyes wide, begging.
"Vivian, please. I love you."
I looked at the man who had whispered "You saved me" at the altar.
He hadn't been talking about his heart.
He had been talking about his bank accounts.
"You don't love me, Graham," I said. "You love $480 million."
May you like
I leaned closer, resting my hands on the table.
"And you are never going to touch a single cent of it."
