Chapter 23 - The Slink ProtocolFor the next twenty-four hours, we barely slept. We built the trap with terrifying, surgical precision.

Maya synthesized the fake database, embedding a tracking worm so sophisticated it would instantly map every offshore server Cross owned the moment he plugged it into his network. Julian utilized his venture capital contacts to secure VIP, all-access passes to the Savoy Gala for us.
We were preparing for a public slaughter.
But I needed an insurance policy. I knew how the digital world operated. I needed to ensure that when Nathaniel Cross fell, his entire media empire burned to the ground simultaneously.
"Maya," I said on Thursday evening, standing by the window overlooking the Thames. "Cross built his empire using a defunct digital strategy known as the Slink Protocol. He uses highly curated, emotionally manipulative video advertising captions to target vulnerable demographics. He hides his cruelty behind perfectly compliant corporate branding."
"Yes," Maya nodded, pulling up Cross’s primary media channels. "His public facing content is flawless."
"I want you to prepare a massive, unblockable broadcast," I commanded. "We are going to hijack his own strategy. You are going to write a series of video advertising captions that comply perfectly with all platform standards, but the content of the video will be the raw, unredacted financial ledgers proving Cross is a human trafficker. We will buy traffic from the exact same banned, underground domains he uses, and funnel it directly to the screens of his major investors."
Julian’s eyes darkened with lethal understanding. "You are going to use his own weapon against him. By the time his compliance team realizes the content is a whistleblower leak, it will have already reached fifty million screens."
"He wanted to sell our secrets," I whispered, the fire of the Iron Architect burning in my soul. "I am going to broadcast his."
At 7:00 PM on Friday, Clara made the call.
She stood in my office, her hands shaking as she held the encrypted phone to her ear. I stood beside her, my hand resting reassuringly on her shoulder.
"Mr. Cross," Clara said, her voice remarkably steady. "I have the database. But it is locked behind a biometric encryption wall. I can't send it digitally."
"You were hired for your discretion, Clara," Cross’s voice crackled through the speaker, dripping with arrogant disdain. "Do not complicate my schedule."
"If you want the identities of five hundred women, you have to meet me tonight," Clara insisted, reading from the script I had written for her. "I will be at the Savoy Gala. Give my daughter the code to leave the Geneva compound, or I burn the drive."
There was a long, suffocating silence on the line.
"Bring the drive to the VIP lounge at 10:00 PM," Cross hissed. "Do not test my patience, or your daughter will pay the price."
The line went dead.
I looked at Clara, offering her a fierce, unbreakable smile. "You did perfectly. We have him."

I turned to Julian. The relaxed partner was gone. He looked like a king preparing for a siege.
"Let’s go to the Savoy," I said. "It’s time to pour the concrete."
