Chapter 24 - The Ambush at the SavoyThere is a distinct difference between legal defense and a public execution. In a courtroom, a corrupt billionaire can hide behind his expensive lawyers and procedural delays. But in front of the press and the global elite, the truth belongs to whoever holds the heaviest ammunition.

The grand ballroom of the Savoy Hotel in London was a masterpiece of crystal chandeliers, gold leaf, and sheer, intoxicating wealth.

It was the most exclusive media summit of the year, an event packed with tech moguls, state senators, and the most powerful CEOs in Europe.

I wore a sweeping, backless gown of midnight-blue silk. I did not look like a desperate charity director fighting an extortionist. I looked like an apex predator stepping onto a battlefield. Julian walked beside me in a flawless bespoke tuxedo, radiating an aura of lethal, terrifying power that forced the crowds to physically part for us.

But I knew that scattered throughout the ballroom, disguised as valets and waiters, were thirty undercover agents from Interpol—agents Julian had quietly contacted using the undeniable proof of the tracking beacon.

At exactly 9:45 PM, Nathaniel Cross stepped onto the main stage to deliver his keynote address.

He wore a bespoke silver suit. He looked utterly triumphant, believing he had broken the woman who dared to hide his merchandise.

"Tonight, Cross Media revolutionizes global connectivity," Cross boomed into his microphone, basking in the glow of his untouchable superiority. "We are the architects of the future."

Julian and I had already bypassed the main floor. We stepped into the VIP control booth overlooking the stage. The technician inside didn't even have time to shout before Julian quietly, firmly escorted him out of the room.

At exactly 10:00 PM, Maya executed the Slink Protocol counter-strike.

Down on the stage, Cross was in the middle of a sentence when the massive digital screens behind him violently glitched. His flawless corporate branding vanished.

The screens shifted to display a stark, highly detailed forensic financial ledger, alongside live, grainy security footage of the Geneva compound where Clara’s daughter was being held.

"What is this?" Cross hissed, tapping his microphone. "Cut the feed! Cut the feed now!"

But the feed was locked. My pre-recorded voice, calm and crystal clear, echoed through the state-of-the-art surround sound system.

“Nathaniel Cross claims that his media empire connects the world. But the truth is, Cross Media is an instrument of massive international extortion. The man standing before you is a human trafficker. He utilizes shadow networks and banned web traffic to locate, kidnap, and sell the locations of domestic abuse survivors back to their abusers.”

The ballroom erupted in chaos. Gasps echoed through the room. Investors physically backed away from the stage as the screens displayed the exact routing numbers, the offshore accounts, and the extortion demands.

Cross stumbled backward, his face turning the color of ash. He stared up at the control booth. He saw me standing there, looking down at him with absolute, unvarnished pity.

"This is a cyber attack!" Cross shrieked, his polished composure completely disintegrating. He pointed a trembling finger at the cameras. "She is lying! She is a fraud!"

The heavy mahogany doors at the back of the ballroom burst open.

Two dozen Interpol agents poured into the room, their badges flashing under the strobe lights. They bypassed the crowd completely and marched straight toward the stage.

"Nathaniel Cross," the lead agent boomed, pulling a pair of heavy steel handcuffs from his belt. "You are under arrest for international human trafficking, wire fraud, and extortion. Your Geneva compound was raided ten minutes ago. The child is safe."

Cross fought wildly as the agents wrenched his arms behind his back. The untouchable tech mogul was reduced to a pathetic, shivering criminal in front of millions of live viewers.

As they dragged him away, he glared up at the booth with pure, unadulterated hatred.

"You ruined me!" he screamed.

I didn't smile. I simply turned off the console. I had balanced the books, and the debt was paid in full.
