Chapter 7 - The Trojan Ledger

I did not weep. I did not crumble. I looked at the black envelope, picked it up, and dropped it directly down the stainless-steel garbage disposal, flipping the switch to let the metal teeth grind it into absolute dust.

"Victoria Mercer has been living in exile in Switzerland for ten years," Liam said, his jaw clenching as his protective instincts instantly flared. "She was forced out of the company by the board for utilizing cartel money to fund her real estate acquisitions. If she's back, she's bringing the entire shadow economy with her."

"She thinks she can intimidate me by threatening my foundation," I said, my mind instantly shifting into combat mode. "She thinks because I run a charity, I don't know how to fight in the absolute dark. She just made a fatal miscalculation."

I turned my indestructible kitchen into a fortified digital war room. I bypassed traditional law enforcement. The federal government moved too slowly, bound by jurisdictions and red tape. If Victoria wanted to wage a shadow war, I was going to give her a bloodbath.

I activated a dormant, multi-million-dollar cybersecurity infrastructure I had quietly funded using my dividends. "She initiated a freeze on our accounts through a corrupt federal proxy," I told Liam, my fingers flying across an encrypted terminal. "I don't want to block her hack. I want to leave the back door wide open."

"You're going to let her inside our servers?" Liam asked, leaning over my shoulder, completely trusting my strategy but recognizing the sheer danger.

"I rapidly created a flawless, mirrored replica of our foundation’s mainframe," I explained, a dark, predatory smile touching my lips. "It’s a digital honeypot. It looks completely authentic, filled with dummy ledgers and simulated revenue streams. But buried deep within the source code is a self-replicating digital parasite. When Victoria’s hackers download our files to plant their fake evidence, the parasite will latch onto their root servers."

I opened the firewall just enough for Victoria’s brute-force algorithm to break through.

On my screen, I watched the bandwidth spike. The ghost in the machine was downloading the administrative keys to the fake mainframe, believing they had just conquered my empire.

"She took the bait," I whispered, hovering my finger over the execute key. "The moment her server processes the keys, the parasite detonates."

I hit enter.

The monitors in the kitchen violently flashed green. My malware didn't just infiltrate Victoria’s system; it ripped her entire shadow empire apart. I watched in real-time as the parasite stripped away her military-grade VPNs, shattered her firewalls, and laid her hidden, multi-billion-dollar Swiss ledgers entirely bare.
