Justice was swift and absolute. Jared and Dr. Evans were sentenced to twenty-five years in federal prison for conspiracy, medical battery, and fraud. Because of his felony convictions, Jared was entirely stripped of the Harlan family trust.
In the civil suit, I took the estate, his company shares, and every penny he had hidden away. Courtney, left completely penniless and abandoned by high society, moved back to her hometown to raise her child in a cramped apartment, funded only by state assistance.
