Chapter 15 - The Escalante HeirSix months later.

The sun shone brilliantly over the rolling, emerald hills of Tuscany, Italy. The private, centuries-old Escalante estate had been transformed into a breathtaking paradise of white roses, cascading silk, and vintage champagne.
It was a day that the global media had dubbed "The Royal Wedding of Wall Street."
I stood in the opulent bridal suite, looking at my reflection in the gilded antique mirror. I wore a custom, breathtaking Vera Wang gown composed of layers of French lace and a dramatic, sweeping train. The Corazón de la Noche diamond rested against my collarbone, a heavy, beautiful reminder of the empire I commanded.
I was no longer the frightened girl who had endured the abuse of the Kensington family. I was no longer a victim seeking revenge. I was a titan.
My father walked into the room, looking incredibly handsome in his tuxedo. His dark eyes welled with tears as he looked at me.
"You are radiant, Mariana," he whispered, kissing my forehead. "You have surpassed every dream I ever had for this family. You saved our legacy."
"We saved it together, Papa," I smiled, taking his arm.
As the massive wooden doors opened, the string quartet began to play a sweeping, emotional symphony. I walked down the aisle, the warm Italian sun kissing my skin. The crowd was a sea of the world's most powerful people, but I didn't see any of them.
I only saw Julian.
He stood at the altar, waiting for me. He looked like a god, his green eyes shining with an intense, burning devotion that took my breath away. He hadn't just stood by my side during the wars; he had handed me the sword and celebrated my victories. He was my equal, my partner, and my king.
When my father placed my hand in Julian's, his grip was strong and familiar.
"You look undeniable," Julian whispered, a rogue, brilliant smile touching his lips.
"I am undeniable," I whispered back.
We exchanged our vows under the Tuscan sun. They were not promises of submission or traditional obedience. They were vows of absolute loyalty, of building a future that no one could ever tear down.
When the priest pronounced us husband and wife, Julian pulled me flush against his chest and kissed me with a fierce, passionate possession that sent a shockwave of electricity straight to my core. The crowd erupted into deafening cheers.
As we walked back down the aisle, hand in hand, a shower of white rose petals rained down upon us.
Later that evening, the reception was a masterpiece of luxury. Julian and I stood on the grand balcony of the villa, looking out over the vineyards as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in violent, beautiful strokes of violet and gold.
Julian wrapped his arms around me from behind, resting his hands gently over my stomach. It was a secret we hadn't shared with the world yet, a secret that made my heart swell with an overwhelming, protective love.
A new heir was growing. A child who would never know the fear or humiliation that I had survived. A child who would inherit the world.
"We won, Mariana," Julian murmured, kissing the side of my neck. "The world is entirely yours."
I leaned back against his solid chest, looking out at the endless horizon.
I thought about Andrew and Margaret, rotting in their miserable, self-inflicted poverty. I thought about Victoria Sterling, disgraced and bankrupt. I thought about every person who had ever tried to make me feel small.
They were ghosts. Echoes of a past that could no longer touch me.

"No, Julian," I said softly, resting my hands over his. "The world is ours."
The ordinary, submissive wife was dead. The queen had taken her throne. And as the stars began to glitter over the Italian countryside, I knew with absolute, unshakable certainty that the Escalante empire would reign forever.
