Chapter 24 - The Fall of the House of ThorneWe didn't call the police. We didn't alert the federal authorities.

When you are fighting a monster, you do not use the law. You use the executioner’s axe.
Under the threat of a slow, agonizing death at Julian’s hands, Elias gave us Sebastian’s exact coordinates. He wasn't hiding in a warehouse in Eastern Europe. He was twenty miles away, operating out of a decommissioned naval shipyard in Staten Island, waiting for Elias to deliver his final prize.
It was 3:00 AM. The freezing rain battered the rusted hulls of the abandoned cargo ships.
Julian’s elite tactical extraction team moved through the shadows with terrifying, silent precision. I sat in the armored mobile command center a mile away, watching the thermal feeds on the monitors. My father stood beside me, his hand resting reassuringly on my shoulder.
"Julian’s team is in position," my father murmured, watching the glowing green dots surround the central warehouse.
Inside the warehouse, Sebastian Thorne was sitting at a massive array of computer terminals, admiring the two billion dollars he had stolen. He believed he had won. He believed his brother was broken.
The heavy steel doors of the warehouse blew inward in a massive, blinding explosion of white phosphorus and concussive force.
Sebastian’s mercenaries didn't even have time to raise their weapons. Julian’s operatives descended from the skylights and breached the perimeter simultaneously, neutralizing the guards with lethal, synchronized efficiency.
Within forty-five seconds, the room was secure.
Julian walked through the smoke, his assault rifle lowered but ready. He stepped over the unconscious bodies of the mercenaries and walked directly toward his older brother.
Sebastian was coughing, bleeding from a shrapnel cut on his forehead, trapped behind the console. He looked up, his hollow eyes widening in genuine shock.
"How?" Sebastian wheezed, spitting blood onto the concrete. "Elias was supposed to—"
"Elias is currently locked in the trunk of my car," Julian said coldly, his voice echoing in the cavernous warehouse. He stopped ten feet away from his brother. "You always underestimated me, Sebastian. But your fatal mistake was underestimating my wife."
Julian tapped his earpiece. "Mariana. The perimeter is secure. He’s yours."
In the mobile command center, I smiled. I didn't need to be in the room to execute him. I had a keyboard.
I bypassed the warehouse’s local network and hijacked the massive digital monitors in front of Sebastian. My face appeared on the screens, staring down at the man who had threatened my children.
"Hello, Sebastian," I said, my voice smooth, elegant, and dripping with absolute venom. "I told you I do not negotiate with terrorists."
Sebastian glared at the screen. "You think this is over? I still have your two billion dollars in an untraceable offshore account. If Julian shoots me, the money is permanently deleted. You walk away bankrupt."
"I don't care about the two billion dollars, Sebastian," I replied, typing rapidly on my terminal. "I care about making sure you have absolutely nothing left."
I hit the execute command.
"While you were busy gloating on your live feed earlier tonight," I explained, watching his face closely on the monitor, "I used the digital footprint of your broadcast to reverse-engineer the malware. You used a sovereign network in Singapore to hide your assets, correct?"
Sebastian’s smug expression began to slip.
"I just sent an anonymous, highly encrypted data packet to the Singapore Monetary Authority," I stated, my tone absolute and unyielding. "It contains undeniable proof that your accounts are funding global terrorist organizations. The moment they received it, they triggered the Alpha Protocol."
On the screens behind Sebastian, the banking interface tracking his stolen wealth suddenly began to flash red. The numbers rapidly spun backward.
Two billion.
One billion.
Five hundred million.
Zero.
"No!" Sebastian shrieked, slamming his hands against the keyboard. "No, no, no!"
"The money hasn't been deleted," I smiled, a cold, devastating expression of total victory. "It has been officially seized by the international banking tribunal. You are penniless, Sebastian. You have no army. You have no leverage. And in exactly five minutes, the FBI counter-terrorism unit is going to raid that shipyard."
May you like
I looked at Julian through the camera feed. We didn't need words. We operated as a single, lethal entity.
"You're a dead man walking, brother," Julian said quietly. He didn't shoot him. He simply turned his back and walked away, leaving Sebastian screaming in the dark.
