Chapter 3 - The Morning After

At 9:00 AM the next morning, the illusion of Andrew's perfect life shattered.

It started at a high-end boutique in the city center. Brenda, eager to celebrate her new status as the soon-to-be lady of the house, attempted to purchase a $40,000 diamond bracelet using the platinum card Andrew had given her.

"I'm sorry, ma'am," the clerk said, looking at the terminal with a frown. "The card has been declined."

"Declined?" Brenda scoffed, her face turning red. "That's impossible. Run it again. Do you know who my boyfriend is?"

"I have run it three times, ma'am. The account has been frozen by the issuing bank."

At the same moment, Margaret was sitting in the dining room of the country club, ordering mimosas for her wealthy friends. The club manager approached her table, his face pale.

"Mrs. Margaret, I apologize for the interruption, but your membership auto-renewal was returned for insufficient funds this morning. Furthermore, your bank has placed a hard lock on all your accounts."

Margaret stood up, humiliated in front of her peers. "This is a ridiculous banking error! My son is a multimillionaire!"

But the true panic was unfolding inside the marble mansion.

Andrew sat in his home office, staring at his computer screen in absolute horror. Every single login for his corporate banking portals returned the same error message: ACCOUNT SUSPENDED - CONTACT MAJORITY SHAREHOLDER.

His phone rang. It was his Chief Financial Officer, David.

"Andrew! What the hell is going on?!" David yelled over the line. "Vanguard Holdings just called in the loans! All of them! They executed a hostile takeover clause at midnight. The payroll accounts are locked. The supply chain vendors are canceling our shipments!"

"Vanguard?" Andrew stammered, his heart hammering against his ribs. "That's impossible! The loan isn't due for another three years! They can't just call it in without warning!"

"They can if we breach the morality and stability covenants, Andrew! The legal notice says the anonymous majority shareholder triggered the immediate liquidation protocol. We are bankrupt, Andrew. We have zero liquidity."

Before Andrew could even process the words, the heavy oak doors of his mansion swung open.

Four men in dark suits walked into the foyer, accompanied by two armed private security contractors.

Andrew stormed out of his office. "Who the hell are you? How did you get past the gate?"

The lead man handed Andrew a thick legal document.

"Mr. Andrew, we represent Vanguard Properties. You are currently trespassing on private property. Your courtesy lease was terminated at midnight. You have exactly one hour to collect your personal clothing and vacate the premises. The vehicles in the garage have already been repossessed."

Andrew stared at the eviction notice, his hands shaking.

"This is my house!" he screamed. "I bought this house!"

"You bought it using capital provided by Vanguard Holdings, sir," the man replied coldly. "You defaulted. The house belongs to our CEO."

Brenda rushed through the front door, crying in frustration. "Andrew! My card was declined! The boutique humiliated me!"

Margaret followed closely behind, equally frantic. "Andrew, my accounts are locked! What is happening?!"

Andrew looked at the eviction notice, his mind spinning. The fortune he worshipped, the power he wielded, was vanishing like smoke.

"I need to speak to the CEO of Vanguard Holdings," Andrew demanded, his voice trembling with desperation. "Right now."

The suited man smiled thinly. "The CEO is expecting you at noon. Do not be late."
