CHAPTER 1: THE PANIC

The heavy steel doors sealed us in completely. Three hundred of the city's most powerful elites. Trapped. Like rats in a very expensive cage. "Open the doors!" someone screamed in the distance. Security guards rushed forward, trying to pry the mechanisms. They didn't budge. My attacker—Sebastian Vance, the golden boy of Vance Enterprises—stared at me. His face was pale. But his arrogance was a hard habit to break. "You think you can hold us hostage?" he sneered, stepping forward again. "My father will have you locked in a federal psychiatric ward before midnight." I didn't flinch. I didn't step back. I just reached up and wiped the last drop of blood from my chin. "Your father?" I asked quietly. "Your father is currently sitting in a federal interrogation room." Sebastian froze. "What?"
