CHAPTER 5: THE CLEANUP

Suddenly, the heavy steel barrier at the back of the room hissed open. Just enough to let a dozen armed tactical police officers step inside. They didn't look confused. They knew exactly who they were there for. "Sebastian Vance," the lead officer barked, pulling out a pair of heavy steel handcuffs. "You are under arrest for multiple counts of assault, coercion, and corporate blackmail." They hauled him off the floor. He didn't fight back. He couldn't. He was weeping uncontrollably as they dragged him out of the ballroom. When the steel door locked behind him, the silence returned. Three hundred terrified elites stared at me. Waiting to see what the predator would do next. I slowly reached into my purse. I pulled out a small compact mirror and a tube of red lipstick. I carefully fixed my makeup, ignoring the dark bruise forming on my cheek. I snapped the mirror shut. I looked at the crowd. And smiled. "The exits are now open," I announced calmly. "Enjoy the rest of the champagne.
