Chapter 15 - The Limitless Horizon

The fallout from the London gala was a seismic event in global finance. The Sovereign Consortium collapsed entirely under the weight of international sanctions and federal raids. Vivienne was denied bail, completely bankrupted, disgraced, and sentenced to life in a maximum-security prison.

Vanguard Logistics absorbed the massive vacuum left by the Consortium’s legitimate assets. We were no longer just a shipping company. We were the absolute, undisputed rulers of the global supply chain.

One year later.

The air in Chicago was crisp, carrying the sweet scent of blooming spring flowers. I stood on the massive, open-air observation deck of the Vanguard tower, wearing a flowing white linen dress. Below me, the city stretched out like a glittering carpet.

I heard soft, familiar footsteps behind me.

Julian wrapped his strong arms around my shoulders, burying his face in the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply. "The final European acquisitions just cleared," he murmured. "We officially control the board, Eleanor. There is no one left to fight."

"There will always be someone who thinks they can take what we have built," I said softly, leaning back into his solid embrace.

"Let them try," Julian smiled, moving his hands down to rest gently, reverently, over the slight, undeniable curve of my stomach. "They will find an impenetrable fortress, and a queen who never misses."

I reached up, lacing my fingers through his, tears of profound, unshakeable joy shining in my eyes. The terrified girl who had cried in a lonely mansion was a ghost, buried permanently under a mountain of ambition and absolute resilience.

I was Eleanor. I was victorious. I was loved. And this beautiful, brilliant empire of light was going to last forever.
