My network, on the other hand, experienced the most lucrative surge in its history. The traffic arbitrage algorithms stabilized, and the revenue from Slink v2 skyrocketed to unprecedented heights.
I stood on the master balcony of my estate, the cool evening breeze sweeping off the Pacific Ocean. Down below, the backyard was quiet again, the remnants of the team-building celebration cleared away. My staff had gone home to their families, completely secure in their jobs, bolstered by the massive bonus checks I had authorized that afternoon.
I held a glass of vintage champagne, looking out at the endless, dark horizon.
