Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Execution

Two weeks later.

I didn't go back to the Palo Alto estate. Harper had leased a hyper-secure, breathtaking property in the Carmel highlands for Leo and me. I spent my days healing, bonding with my beautiful son, and meticulously directing my legal team.

Julian, desperate to stop the bleeding, called an emergency board meeting at the Vance Innovations headquarters in San Francisco. The stock had plummeted twenty percent following the rumors of the asset freeze. He planned to assure the investors that his "personal marital issues" would not affect the company's proprietary technology, and he was preparing to ask the board to authorize a massive buyout to pay for my silence.

He didn't realize I was already on the guest list.

I arrived at the glass-walled skyscraper wearing a sharp, tailored ivory suit. I bypassed the panicked receptionists and walked directly toward the executive boardroom, flanked by Harper and three of the most ruthless corporate attorneys on the West Coast.

I pushed the heavy glass doors open.

Julian was standing at the head of the massive mahogany table, sweating profusely, mid-sentence in a desperate presentation.

He froze. The laser pointer slipped from his fingers, clattering against the table.

"Clara?" Julian choked out, his face turning a sickly shade of gray.

"Hello, Julian," I said, my voice echoing with an absolute, uncompromising authority. I walked straight to the opposite end of the table and took a seat. "Please, don't let me interrupt. I believe you were just lying to your investors."

"Security!" Julian shouted, panic completely overriding his logic. "Remove her from the building!"

"Sit down, Julian," the Chairman of the Board snapped, looking at him with utter disgust before turning to me. "Mrs. Vance. Your attorneys sent us a highly concerning dossier this morning. We would like to hear what you have to say."

I didn't raise my voice. I didn't need to. I simply slid a certified, heavy legal document across the polished table.

"Gentlemen," I addressed the board. "The artificial intelligence algorithm that serves as the foundation for every single product Vance Innovations sells does not belong to this company. It belongs to me. Julian has been operating on a revocable license for seven years."

The boardroom erupted into furious, panicked whispers.

"She's lying!" Julian screamed, lunging forward, his eyes wild with terror. "I built this company! The code is ours!"

"The code is mine, Julian," I corrected him mercilessly. "And due to your documented misuse of corporate funds to finance an extramarital affair, you have triggered a catastrophic breach of our licensing agreement. I am officially revoking the intellectual property rights."

I stood up, smoothing my jacket. "As of this exact moment, Vance Innovations owns nothing but empty servers and a toxic CEO. I suggest you update your stock projections."
