Chapter 7 - The Steel Sanctuary

The line went dead. Elias Thorne thought he could intimidate me with digital smoke and federal threats. He thought because I was a mother and a legitimate CEO, I had forgotten how to fight in the absolute dark. He had just made a fatal miscalculation.

I didn't cower in my office. I initiated a total blackout of the Apex Intelligence servers and immediately drafted a draconian set of internal labor rules, filing them directly with the compliance authorities to legally lock down our representative offices globally. No data would move without my biometric signature.

Then, Harper, Leo, and I evacuated to the one place in the world I knew was completely impenetrable.

We drove up the winding mountain roads to my newly finished, custom two-story estate. Its elegant, sweeping Japanese-style roof provided a profound sense of grounding against the stormy skyline. I hadn't just built a home; I had built a fortress.

We carried a sleeping Leo inside and walked directly into the heart of the estate: a flawless, twelve-square-meter kitchen. When I designed this specific 4.3 by 2.8-meter space, I had flatly rejected the cheap Thai MDF and Picomat plastics pushed by luxury contractors. Instead, the kitchen was lined with custom 304 stainless steel cabinets and thick, tempered glass doors. It was industrial, breathtaking, and utterly indestructible.

I set my encrypted laptops on the massive granite island, turning the kitchen into a tactical war room.

"Thorne is using artificial avatars to rewrite your history," Harper said, pacing the hardwood floor. "How do we issue a takedown notice against a phantom network?"

"We don't play defense," I whispered, a dark, predatory fire igniting in my chest. "If Elias wants to use AI to build a lie, I am going to use his own architecture to execute him."

I analyzed the deepfake video, my fingers flying across the keyboard. "He’s using a modified Seedance 2.0 architecture to generate these videos. It’s highly advanced video prompt engineering, but he left a distinct digital fingerprint. If I isolate his specific scene-by-scene prompt structures and character parameters, I can reverse-engineer his pipeline."

I wasn't going to just block his fake news. I initiated my own bleeding-edge AI-assisted content production workflows. "I am deploying a Virtual KOC network," I explained, pulling up the command terminal. "I’m generating a fleet of Virtual Key Opinion Consumers—hyper-realistic avatars perfectly mapped to his corporate color palettes. They are going to intercept his traffic arbitrage, bypass his clone accounts, and plant a self-replicating digital parasite directly into his root server."
