Chapter 13 - The Routing Guillotine

The High Commission was relying on old-world intimidation masked by purchased digital malware to generate their highly convincing federal traps. To break them, I had to be infinitely more ruthless than their algorithms.

"I am deploying a localized counter-measure," I told Roman, my eyes locked on the cascading lines of code illuminating the steel cabinets. "We are going to rewrite the manifests again. But instead of just deleting your name, I am going to re-route the container tracking numbers directly to the Commission’s own legitimate front companies in Manhattan."

I didn't use basic, entry-level software to build the counter-attack. I bypassed the limitations of consumer platforms, utilizing full-scale, enterprise-level logistics architecture to perfectly match the federal coding aesthetic of the Port Authority. I needed the visual interface to be mathematically flawless so the government's automated systems would accept my alterations as absolute truth.

For six agonizing hours, the autumn winds howled against the Japanese-style roof of our estate, but inside the kitchen, the focus was absolute. I sifted through mountains of synthetic data, peeling back the layers of the syndicate's digital witchcraft. I found the microscopic backdoor in their proxy software—a tiny vulnerability left open by an arrogant, old-world developer who didn't understand modern cryptography.

At 4:12 AM, the screen flashed a brilliant, blinding green.

"I have the root access," I breathed. "The moment their automated system pulls the final confirmation for the federal tip-off, they are going to pull my parasite directly into their central mainframe. And it’s going to use their own forged manifests to legally lock their offshore accounts."

I hit the execute key.

The monitors in the kitchen violently flared. My malware didn't just infiltrate the Commission's system; it ripped their entire shadow empire apart. I watched in real-time as the parasite stripped away their military-grade VPNs, shattered their firewalls, and laid their hidden, multi-billion-dollar ledgers entirely bare to the waiting eyes of the FBI.
