Chapter 14 - Blood on the Japanese Roof

While I was silently dismantling their shadow empire in the digital realm, Don Salvatore realized his firewalls were collapsing. Cornered apex predators do not retreat; they lash out with desperate physical violence.

It was 5:00 AM. The perimeter alarms of the estate suddenly shrieked, a high-pitched wail that sliced right through the freezing morning fog.

Through the internal security monitors, we watched eight heavily armed mercenaries wearing tactical gear and night-vision goggles storm across the pristine lawns, heading directly for the main house. They weren't federal agents. They were a private, elite extraction team hired by the Commission to physically seize my server keys and silence us before the feds raided their Manhattan warehouses.

"Lock the steel bulkheads," Roman commanded, his voice entirely devoid of fear. He pulled two matte-black firearms from the biometric safe beneath the floorboards, handing one to me.

I killed the main power breaker, plunging the entire sprawling estate into pitch-black darkness. I stood my ground in the kitchen. The solid stainless-steel cabinets provided flawless ballistic cover, and the tempered glass was completely shatter-proof. We had built a fortress that absolutely refused to break.

The mercenaries kicked through the heavy front doors, their laser sights cutting through the dark foyer. They moved with terrifying precision, sweeping the modern living room. They didn't realize they had just walked into a fatal funnel designed by the most dangerous Underboss the city had ever seen.

As the first three mercenaries entered the kitchen archway, I used the reflection of the moonlight against the steel refrigerator to perfectly track their movements. I triggered the estate’s internal security countermeasures from my mobile device. Blinding, high-intensity strobe lights mounted in the ceiling violently flashed to life, accompanied by a deafening, high-frequency acoustic alarm.

The mercenaries dropped to their knees, clutching their ears, completely blinded and disoriented by the sensory overload.

Before they could recover or fire a single wild shot, Roman moved like a shadow in the strobe lights. With terrifying, surgical precision, he neutralized the physical threat, zip-tying the unconscious mercenaries to the floor before they even knew what hit them. The physical threat to our sanctuary was permanently dismantled on the very floor we had built to protect us.
