Chapter 18 - The Digital GuillotineTo completely destroy a man who operates in the shadows, you must drag him into the blinding light and strip him of his illusions of power in front of the entire world.

Alexander Pierce frowned. He reached into the inner pocket of his velvet jacket and pulled out his encrypted smartphone. He tapped the screen, expecting to see a confirmation of his successful corporate espionage.
Instead, the color completely and utterly drained from his face. The untouchable tech billionaire shattered in a microsecond.
"What... what is this?" Pierce hissed, his hands trembling violently.
"That is a live feed of your central servers in Dubai," I said smoothly, my voice projecting clearly over the silent, echoing ballroom. I reached into my sapphire clutch and pulled out a sleek, encrypted titanium tablet. I tapped the screen once, instantly hijacking the ballroom’s massive digital AV system.
The promotional videos of Pierce’s smart-city vanished from the massive screens lining the walls. In their place, a highly detailed, unredacted digital ledger appeared.
"When you planted that siphon worm in my building, Alexander, you thought you were securing your victory," I announced to the thousands of industry leaders and journalists in the room. "You didn't realize I left the door open so I could walk directly into your house."
Pierce staggered backward, absolute, unadulterated terror replacing his arrogance.
"The files you just downloaded into your mainframe weren't my blueprints," I continued, stepping forward, radiating pure, lethal executioner energy. "It was a Trojan auditor. I didn't just find the spoofed IP addresses proving you orchestrated the cyber-attack on my firm. I found the shadow ledgers."
I swiped the tablet. The screens changed, displaying massive offshore wire transfers.
"I found the untaxed slush funds you’ve been using to bribe federal regulators. I found the emails instructing your engineers to ignore fatal structural flaws in your Middle Eastern developments to cut costs," I said, my voice ringing with a fierce, uncompromising fire. "You didn't just commit corporate espionage, Alexander. You committed massive international wire fraud and criminal negligence."
"You... you hacked my servers!" Pierce shrieked, his aristocratic facade entirely destroyed as he backed away from me. "Security! Arrest her!"
"I didn't hack them. I exposed them," I whispered coldly.
Julian stepped forward, pulling his own phone from his pocket. "And as for security, I wouldn't worry about them. They work for us."
The heavy glass doors of the ballroom burst open. A dozen federal agents from the FBI's Cyber Crimes Division marched directly through the crowd of horrified tech elites.
"Alexander Pierce!" the lead agent barked, flashing his badge. "You are under arrest for massive federal wire fraud, corporate espionage, and international money laundering."
Pierce didn't fight. He couldn't. As the agents slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists, he shot one last, terrified, pleading look at me.

"You haven't won!" he wept as they dragged him out of the ballroom, his velvet jacket ruined.
"I won the moment you thought you could steal from a queen in her own castle," I replied softly, turning my back on him.
