The city outside was quiet.

Clara was sitting on my sofa, wrapped in a warm blanket, drinking tea.

Leo was fast asleep in my guest bedroom, safe, warm, and entirely out of reach of the monsters.

My father stood by the kitchen island, quietly reviewing the final injunction files.

I looked at the two of them.

I felt a profound, heavy sense of completion in my chest.

When I survived the Caldwells, I thought my journey was over. I thought the goal was just to survive.
