Chapter 19 - The Viral Execution

The internet did not just react; it exploded. The viral momentum of Damian’s original smear campaign was instantly violently reversed. Millions of people watched the real-time deconstruction of the deepfake, fascinated by the digital exposure. The American public, furious at being manipulated by a shadowy billionaire heir, demanded immediate justice.

Within three hours, the hashtag demanding David’s release was the number one trending topic worldwide. The FBI, facing a catastrophic public humiliation for arresting an innocent man based on synthetic evidence, was forced into a massive, immediate pivot.

I stood in my office, watching the news anchors scramble to retract their previous statements, their faces pale as they reported on the astonishing digital counter-strike that had just exonerated David Sterling.

The heavy glass doors of my office swung open.

Damian Kensington stormed in, completely ignoring the protests of my security detail. His bespoke suit was rumpled, his hair disheveled, and his icy blue eyes were wide with sheer, unadulterated panic. The arrogant, untouchable digital king was bleeding out on the floor.

“Shut it down!” Damian screamed, lunging toward my desk before two of my armed guards grabbed his arms, wrenching him backward. “You crashed my servers! You exposed my IP to the federal cyber-crimes division! Do you have any idea what you’ve done?!”

“I did exactly what I promised, Damian,” I replied, standing up slowly, smoothing the front of my crimson suit. I walked around the desk, stopping just inches from his terrified face. “I took your digital smoke and I shoved it down your throat.”

“They are freezing my offshore accounts! The SEC is raiding my holding companies!” Damian roared, spittle flying from his lips as he thrashed against my guards. “You can't do this to me! I am the rightful heir!”

“You are nothing but a footnote in my history,” I whispered, my voice dripping with absolute, freezing contempt. “You thought you could leverage my husband to steal my empire. But you forgot one crucial detail about me, Damian. I don't negotiate with terrorists. I obliterate them.”

The elevators down the hall dinged. A team of federal agents from the cyber-crimes division poured onto the executive floor, their badges flashing under the fluorescent lights. They didn't even look at me. They marched straight toward Damian.

“Damian Kensington,” the lead agent announced, slapping a pair of heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists. “You are under arrest for domestic cyber-terrorism, felony extortion, and the forgery of federal evidence. You have the right to remain silent.”

I watched without a single ounce of pity as the last remaining venomous threat to my family was dragged out of my building, screaming and sobbing as his entire shadow empire collapsed into absolute ruin. The Kensington bloodline was finally, permanently extinguished.
