Chapter 18 - The Zero-Day ExploitTo destroy a man who thrives on illusions, you do not fight him with lawyers. You rip down the curtain and drag him into the blinding, unforgiving light.

For the next six hours, my corner office operated like a covert cyber-warfare unit. We severed all external communications, operating entirely on isolated frequencies to prevent Arthur’s digital spies from intercepting our counter-attack.

"Arthur’s personal servers are heavily encrypted," Elias warned, sweating profusely as he typed. "It’s a closed-loop system. I can't force my way in without triggering a total network lockdown."

"We don't force our way in," David said smoothly, his sharp, venture-capitalist mind analyzing the architecture of Arthur’s empire. "Arthur is a narcissist. He’s obsessed with his own public image. Elena, did Arthur’s team send out digital press kits for tonight's summit?"

"Yes," Elena confirmed. "They blasted them out to every major news outlet this morning."

"Perfect," David smiled—a slow, predatory expression. "Elias, intercept the press kit file on the Associated Press server. Embed a zero-day exploit—a localized Trojan horse—into the high-resolution photo of Arthur. When his own PR director logs into their internal network to update the press release, the Trojan will piggyback into the mainframe."

"A digital Trojan disguised as his own ego," I breathed, my eyes glowing with absolute ambition. "Do it."

At exactly 6:00 P.M., the trap was sprung.

The progress bar on Elias’s screen flashed green. MAINFRAME BREACHED. DECRYPTING.

"We’re in," Elias whispered, adrenaline flooding the room as terabytes of Vanguard Media’s darkest secrets poured into our local servers. "And Maya... it’s a goldmine. I have the raw, un-rendered AI video files. I have the voice-cloning software logs. But look at this."

Elias isolated a heavily encrypted folder labeled Project Icarus.

"Arthur hasn't just been faking videos," David noted, his blue eyes darkening with predatory triumph. "He’s been using offshore shell companies to illegally fund the campaigns of three federal judges and two SEC commissioners. He bribed them to look the other way while he operated an illegal wiretapping ring on rival CEOs."

A profound, victorious fire ignited in my chest. Arthur Vance wanted to frame me for a white-collar crime? He had just handed me the physical evidence of his own international racketeering syndicate.

"Download the entire ledger," I commanded, pulling my tailored crimson trench coat over my shoulders. "Arthur wants to give a speech on corporate corruption tonight. Let’s make sure he has the right material."
