Chapter 19 - The Broadcast CheckmateThe Grand Ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was packed with the elite power brokers of global media. It was an ultra-exclusive, closed-door event designed to project an image of untouchable, old-world supremacy.

I did not sneak in. I arrived in a black armored Maybach.
I stepped out of the car wearing a sweeping, backless gown of liquid-fire crimson silk. I looked like armor. I looked like an immortal queen coming to reclaim her stolen throne. David walked beside me in a razor-sharp Tom Ford tuxedo, radiating the lethal, protective energy of an executioner waiting for the nod.
The ambient chatter in the grand hall died down instantly as we walked through the heavy brass doors. The sea of media executives and politicians parted for us.
I spotted him immediately. Arthur Vance stood at the center podium, bathed in a spotlight, looking smug and victorious. On the massive screen behind him, a still image of my deepfake video was paused, serving as the backdrop for his moral crusade.
When he saw me walking down the center aisle, his confident smile completely evaporated.
"Maya," Arthur stammered into the microphone, his aristocratic composure cracking. "Security! Remove her. She is a federal suspect!"
David stepped forward, his towering frame instantly intimidating the venue guards. "I wouldn't do that. The perimeter of this hotel is currently surrounded by federal agents from the Cyber Crimes Division and the FBI."
Arthur scoffed, though a bead of sweat formed on his brow. "You are bluffing. You’re desperate."
I reached into my crimson clutch and pulled out a sleek, encrypted titanium tablet. I tapped the screen once, instantly hijacking the ballroom’s AV system.
The fake image of me vanished from the massive screen behind Arthur. In its place, the raw, un-rendered AI files appeared, clearly showing the digital manipulation used to create the deepfake.
"You see, Arthur," I said smoothly, my voice echoing through the silent, massive ballroom, "while you were busy generating synthetic lies, my team was auditing your real servers."
Arthur turned around, looking at the screen. The color completely and utterly drained from his face. The untouchable media baron shattered in a microsecond.
"I didn't just find the software you used to frame me," I announced to the thousands of industry leaders in the room. I swiped the tablet, bringing up the unredacted offshore wire transfers. "I found the ledgers. The illegal campaign contributions. The wiretapping logs. You didn't just commit corporate sabotage, Arthur. You committed federal racketeering and treason."
"You... you hacked my servers!" Arthur shrieked, his facade entirely destroyed.
"I didn't hack them. I exposed them," I whispered coldly.
The heavy doors of the ballroom burst open. A dozen federal agents marched directly down the aisle.
"Arthur Vance!" the lead agent barked, flashing his badge. "You are under arrest for massive federal wire fraud, election tampering, and corporate espionage."
Arthur didn't fight. He couldn't. As the agents slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto his wrists, he shot one last, terrified, pleading look at me.

"You haven't won," he wept as they dragged him off the stage.
"I won the moment you thought I was a target," I replied softly.
