Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Wedding

The fallout was a spectacular, coordinated slaughter of the city's political corruption.
By sunrise, the Chicago establishment was in absolute chaos, purged of its darkest elements by the massive data leak I had engineered. Senator Kensington was denied bail, facing the rest of his life in a federal supermax facility. The authorities arrived at my estate to collect the mercenaries, treating me not as a suspect, but as a legitimate billionaire who had miraculously survived an extortion plot.
Six months later, the crisp spring breeze swept across the sprawling, manicured lawns of our Lake Forest estate. The toxic fallout of Kensington’s collapse was nothing but a footnote in the incredible, unstoppable history of the Moretti Foundation. We had absorbed the global spotlight, utilizing our vast resources to empower pediatric medicine on a scale the world had never seen.
I stood at the end of a breathtaking floral archway erected on our vast green lawn. The nightmare was truly, finally over.
The string quartet began to play, and the world around me completely stopped.
Sofia walked down the aisle, wearing a flawless, custom-designed white silk gown. Her dark hair caught the spring sunlight, and her eyes shone with pure, unshadowed joy. She carried Elara, who was wearing a tiny matching white dress, giggling as she reached for the falling cherry blossoms.
When Sofia reached the altar, she handed Elara to her maid of honor and took both of my hands in hers.
"You walked through the absolute darkness to find me," Sofia whispered, her voice thick with raw, beautiful emotion, carrying effortlessly over our closest friends and allies. "You tore down your own empire to build a sanctuary for us. I promise to stand by your side, to be your light, and to love you for the rest of my life."
Tears of absolute gratitude blurred my vision. "You didn't just save my soul, Sofia," I said, my voice steady and vibrating with pure, unconditional love. "You gave me a reason to live. You are my sanctuary, my partner, and my greatest victory. I am yours, completely and forever."
As the officiant pronounced us husband and wife, I pulled Sofia into a sweeping, passionate kiss. The guests cheered, but the world around us melted away, leaving only the profound, unbreakable security of the life we had fought through hell to defend.
Later that evening, after the reception had wound down, Sofia and I walked back into our beautiful, twelve-square-meter kitchen. The moonlight reflected brilliantly off the flawless stainless-steel cabinets.
I walked up behind her, wrapping my strong arms around her waist and resting my chin on her shoulder.
"We built a fortress," I murmured, my voice rumbling warmly against her skin.

"We built a kingdom," Sofia corrected softly, turning in my arms to look up into my eyes. "The steel, the wealth, the concrete... they are just materials. The real foundation is the peace we absolutely refused to surrender."
As I pulled my wife in for one last kiss under the quiet shadows of our home, I knew with absolute certainty that the monsters were permanently locked away. The digital phantoms were erased, the betrayals were avenged, and our beautiful, victorious world was finally, eternally at peace.
