Chapter 20 - The Absolute MonarchSix months later.

The crisp autumn air whipped across the private tarmac of O'Hare International Airport. Our sleek, matte-black Gulfstream G650 stood waiting, its engines humming with quiet, immense power.

I stood at the base of the stairs, holding Elara’s hand as she pointed excitedly at the planes taking off in the distance. Sofia stood beside us, looking radiant in a tailored camel coat.

We were leaving for a month-long vacation to the Mediterranean. The Moretti Foundation was running flawlessly, completely automated and guarded by a security AI that was recognized globally as the most aggressive defensive system ever created.

We had no enemies left. The criminal underworld had learned a terrifying, permanent lesson: You do not look in the direction of the Moretti family. If you try to burn them, they will not just put out the fire—they will trace the spark back to your house and incinerate everything you love.

"Are you ready, my little princess?" I asked, scooping Elara up into my arms. She giggled, throwing her arms around my neck.

"Ready!" she cheered.

As we walked up the stairs of the jet, I paused at the top and looked back at the Chicago skyline. The towering glass skyscrapers gleamed in the afternoon sun. I knew that beneath the surface of that city, our digital architecture was silently, relentlessly protecting millions of people.

We hadn't just survived the shadow economy. We had completely conquered it.

"What are you looking at, Adrian?" Sofia asked, turning back from the cabin entrance.

I looked at my brilliant, fierce wife, and the beautiful child in my arms. I felt the titanium spine I had forged in the fire, unbending and absolute.

"Just admiring the view," I smiled, stepping into the cabin and pulling the heavy door shut behind us, sealing out the world.

The engines roared to life, and the jet lifted off the runway, climbing higher and higher until the world below was nothing but a distant, quiet memory. The nightmare was over. The war was won.

And the Moretti kingdom was eternal.
