Chapter 1 - The Refusal

Dante stared at the divorce papers.

His hands, which had ended lives without trembling, shook.

“You can’t do this,” he said.

His voice dropped to that lethal, quiet tone he used for enemies.

“No one leaves me, Isabella. Especially not with my son.”

I didn’t flinch.

“I already did.”

Dante tossed the velvet box onto the sterile hospital tray.

It popped open.

A flawless diamond necklace.

An apology I no longer wanted.

“I will destroy that law firm,” Dante promised.

“I will burn Elizabeth Warren to the ground before I let her take my family.”

Sofia stepped forward, but I raised my hand to stop her.

“If you touch my lawyers,” I said calmly, “the flash drive goes to the Commission.”
