Chapter 4 - The Broken King

For the first time in his life, Dante Romano had no move to make.

He couldn't buy his way out.

He couldn't shoot his way out.

He was entirely trapped by the woman he had neglected.

He looked at the divorce papers in his hand.

Then he looked at Leo, sleeping peacefully against my chest.

A tear slipped down the cheek of New York's most feared man.

“He’s my blood,” Dante choked out.

“He’s my heartbeat, Dante,” I replied. “And I won't let you break his heart the way you broke mine.”

Dante reached into his coat pocket.

He pulled out a silver pen.

His hand shook violently as he pressed the tip to the signature line.

He signed his name.

Signing away his wife.

Signing away his son.

He placed the papers on the bed.

Then he turned and walked out of the hospital room.

His footsteps echoed in the quiet hallway.

A king who had just lost his entire kingdom.
