Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Sovereign

One year later, the suffocating, terrifying memory of Dante Moretti felt like a distant, fading nightmare that belonged to a completely different lifetime.
The brilliant autumn sun cast a golden, vibrant glow over the sprawling, secluded estate I had purchased in the quiet hills of Tuscany. The crisp breeze swept across the manicured olive groves, carrying the sweet scent of lavender and fresh earth.
I stood on the stone terrace, holding a warm cup of coffee, looking out over the breathtaking, endless horizon.
There were no bodyguards pacing my property. There were no encrypted burner phones or locked biometric safes. There was only the overwhelming, beautiful sound of absolute, unadulterated freedom.
Down on the vast green lawn, a healthy, energetic one-year-old Leo was laughing hysterically as he chased a golden retriever puppy through the grass.
Sofia walked out onto the terrace, holding a tablet and wearing a pair of oversized sunglasses. She had officially moved her law practice to Europe, acting as my closest confidante and the trustee for the massive, legitimate philanthropic foundation we had built using the government reward money from the Moretti seizure.
“The final sentencing just came down from New York,” Sofia murmured, leaning against the stone railing. “Dante was given consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole at a supermax facility in Colorado. The syndicate is officially dead. The board is permanently cleared, Isabella.”
I smiled, a genuine, radiant expression that reached all the way to my eyes. I looked down at my beautiful, innocent son, knowing he would never have to carry the bloody legacy of his father’s name.
“We built a fortress,” Sofia said softly.
“We built a kingdom,” I corrected, turning to look at her. “Dante thought my silence was the sound of a woman breaking. He didn't know it was the sound of a seed taking root in the dark.”
I walked down the stone steps of the terrace and scooped Leo into my arms, burying my face in his warm, sweet-smelling hair. He giggled, wrapping his tiny arms around my neck.

I had walked through hell. I had been battered by betrayal, trapped in a platinum cage, and hunted by the darkest elements of the underworld. But I had not burned. I had taken the fire and used it to forge an unbreakable, titanium spine.
As I stood in the golden light of my new life, completely untouchable and entirely free, I knew with absolute certainty that the monsters were permanently locked away. The Queen had not just survived the game; she had rewritten the rules, and her beautiful, victorious world was finally, eternally at peace.
