Chapter 25 - Long Live the QueenEleanor screamed—a raw, guttural sound of absolute defeat. She threw the detonator against the glass window, shattering the plastic casing.

She lunged at me across the table, her hands reaching for my throat. But she never made it.

The heavy doors of the boardroom burst open. Sofia stepped through, flanked by four heavily armed federal agents. They slammed Eleanor onto the polished wood table, cuffing her wrists tightly behind her back.

"Eleanor Sterling," the lead agent said, reading her rights as she thrashed and cursed. "You are under arrest for international cyber-terrorism, extortion, and fraud."

I stood up slowly, smoothing the wrinkles from my coat. I walked over to where Eleanor was pinned against the table. I leaned down until my lips were right next to her ear.

"You told me Victor was just the muscle, and you were the brain," I whispered, so only she could hear. "But you both made the exact same mistake. You thought you were playing chess against a terrified little girl."

I stood up straight, looking down at her with absolute, unyielding coldness.

"I am the board."

I turned and walked away, linking my arm through Sofia's as we stepped into the elevator. The doors closed on Eleanor Sterling's screaming, pathetic face, shutting her out of our world forever.

Six weeks later, the crisp Chicago winter had settled over our new estate in Lake Forest. The media had issued groveling public apologies. The Foundation was not just restored; it was twice as powerful, heavily subsidized by the billions we had legally seized from Eleanor's dismantled empire.

I stood in our new, heavily fortified kitchen, watching the snow fall outside the reinforced windows. Sofia was laughing, lifting Leo up to place a star on top of our towering Christmas tree.

I walked over, wrapping my arms around my beautiful wife from behind, kissing the side of her neck.

"Is the system secure?" Sofia asked softly, leaning back into my embrace.

"The system is perfect," I promised, watching our son marvel at the sparkling lights.

There would always be monsters in the world. There would always be predators waiting in the shadows. But they would never come for us again. Because the entire global underworld now knew the terrifying truth.

If you touch the Queen's family, she won't just defeat you. She will erase you from history.
