Chapter 19 - The Seedance TrapThrough the video feed, we watched Silas click the executable file. For exactly three seconds, a breathtakingly realistic, AI-generated video of Aria walking down a virtual runway played on his screen. His attorneys leaned in, mesmerized by the sheer technological perfection of the Seedance engine.

"Incredible," Silas whispered, his eyes wide with greed. "This is going to change the entire industry."

But on the fourth second, the beautiful runway video abruptly dissolved into a chaotic cascade of raw, scrolling green code.

Silas frowned, tapping his keyboard. "What is this? Is the rendering engine glitching?"

In our war room, Julian’s cyber team was typing furiously. "The beacon is active, Emily!" the lead developer shouted. "We are inside his mainframe! The Trojan has bypassed his firewalls. We are pulling the data now!"

On the video screen, Silas’s confusion rapidly morphed into sheer panic. Alarm klaxons began blaring in his Silicon Valley office. Red warning banners flashed violently across his background monitors.

"What did you do?!" Silas screamed, leaping out of his leather chair. "Shut down the servers! Cut the hardlines! She’s hacking us!"

"I’m not hacking you, Silas," I said, leaning closer to the camera, a cold, victorious smile spreading across my face. "I am simply collecting my property. And a little extra on the side."

"Got it!" Julian’s developer yelled triumphantly. "We have the purchase receipts for the black-market VIA clone accounts! We have the encrypted emails where he orchestrated the forged European labor rules! We have a direct confession of his intent to permanently lock our Meta accounts!"

I looked back at the screen. Silas was pale, sweating profusely as his attorneys scrambled to unplug their computers, entirely too late. The damage was done. The ghost had been dragged out into the blinding light.

"Did you honestly think you could use my platforms against me?" I asked, my voice slicing through his panic like a scalpel. "You thought you were the smartest predator in the room. But you forgot that I built my empire by surviving monsters much scarier than you."

"You can't prove anything!" Silas shouted, his voice cracking with desperation. "That data is illegally obtained! It’s inadmissible in court!"

Julian stepped into the frame, his presence commanding and lethal. "Actually, Silas, it’s entirely admissible. Because you willingly signed a digital transfer agreement giving Mercer Holdings temporary diagnostic access to your servers to 'ensure software compatibility.' You literally invited us in. And what we found was an active, international cyber-terrorism plot."

Silas staggered backward, the scotch glass slipping from his hand and shattering on his office floor.

"I have a federal judge on the other line," Julian continued mercilessly. "The DOJ has just issued a sealed indictment. The FBI field office in San Francisco is currently en route to your building. They are going to seize your assets, your servers, and your freedom."

"Emily, wait!" Silas begged, pressing his hands against his desk, the arrogant tech-bro facade completely evaporating. "We can make a deal! I’ll call Meta right now! I’ll have your permanent lock reversed immediately! Please, you can keep the software!"

I stared at him, feeling the familiar, intoxicating rush of total victory. I didn't feel pity. I didn't feel anger. I just felt an overwhelming sense of closure.

"I don't make deals with terrorists, Silas," I said quietly. "And I don't need you to call Meta. With the evidence I just handed over to the federal government, Meta will be begging on their knees to restore my accounts by morning."

I reached forward and pressed a single button, terminating the video call.

The screen went black. The war room erupted into deafening cheers. Chloe threw her arms around the lead developer, weeping with relief. Julian pulled me into a fierce, breathless kiss, lifting me entirely off the ground. The permanent lock was broken, the technology was safe, and the last remnants of the Vance family legacy had been utterly destroyed.
